Corporate photography at Oakbrook Terrace Tower

Oakbrook Terrace Tower stands at 1 Tower Lane, where Route 83 meets Roosevelt Road, and is the tallest building in Illinois outside the city of Chicago. It runs 31 stories and 418 feet, holds about 792,000 square feet, and was designed by Helmut Jahn. That authorship shows in the way the building handles glass and light, and it is the reason the tower reads as a landmark from the expressway rather than as one more suburban office box. Hiffman National manages the property, which sold for $60 million. For a photography day the building's character matters, because a Jahn tower gives you daylight and a strong architectural line to work with.

Tenants at the tower include Bosch, as a matter of public record. Beyond that the building runs as a multi tenant Class A address rather than a single company headquarters, which is typical for the Route 83 spine. A tower day is an elevator day. With 31 floors served by one core, the schedule holds together when we set up close to the elevator bank on your floor and bring people up in small groups rather than calling an entire department at once. The glass on this building is generous, so a room on the outside wall gives real daylight and the portraits warm up accordingly. We bring studio light regardless and balance it against whatever the windows are doing. Loading, freight elevator times and the certificate of insurance go through building management the week before.
