Corporate Photography in Los Angeles

Headshots, executive portraits, office environments and event coverage across every Los Angeles submarket, shot to one standard by one photographer who flies in from St. Louis.

Corporate photography in Los Angeles means working across a dozen separate office markets that share one metro name. A company with a legal team in Century City, a content group in Culver City and an engineering floor in El Segundo is running three different logistics problems, with three sets of parking rules and three very different drive times. We fly in from St. Louis for exactly that reason. One photographer covers all of it on a single trip, and the portraits from the aerospace campus match the portraits from the tower on Avenue of the Stars because the same person lit them the same way. Eight Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in Los Angeles County, and among them they employ close to 300,000 people worldwide.

The metro is laid out as a set of basins and passes rather than a hub with suburbs, and that geography sets the shooting day. The Westside sits west of the Los Angeles Basin and south of the Santa Monica Mountains. The San Fernando Valley sits north of them, and several hundred thousand people cross between the two daily, averaging 40 to 80 minutes each way. Interstate 405 through the Sepulveda Pass carries roughly 379,000 vehicles a day and is described as the busiest highway corridor in the United States. INRIX ranked Los Angeles the fourth most congested US city for 2025 at 87 hours lost per driver. Rail is slowly changing the math: Metro's D Line extension opened three Wilshire stations in May 2026, with Beverly Hills and Century City on the next section.

A company with offices in Bunker Hill, Santa Monica and Burbank usually ends up with three visual identities by accident. Each site hires locally, each local photographer has a house style, and the leadership page turns into a patchwork of backgrounds, crops and color temperatures that nobody approved. Los Angeles makes this worse than most markets because the submarkets are genuinely separate places with separate vendor pools. Booking one photographer for the whole footprint fixes it at the source. We build a lighting and framing standard on the first floor we shoot, carry it to the next office the same week, and hand back a library that looks like it came from one company rather than five. New hires two years later get the same setup, so the wall stays consistent as people rotate through.

Where the offices actually are

The districts a Los Angeles program usually touches, and the municipality each one is really in.

Downtown Los Angeles and Bunker Hill

City of Los Angeles

Brokers split Downtown into Bunker Hill, the Financial District and East Downtown, and the three are not behaving the same way. Downtown office vacancy sat flat at 32.4% in early 2026 while East Downtown ran 58.4%, with tenants consolidating into Bunker Hill's marquee towers rather than spreading out. That concentration shows up in the buildings a shoot day actually touches: City National Plaza at 505 and 555 South Flower Street, the Gas Company Tower at 555 West 5th Street, Wells Fargo Center and its three-story glass atrium. Law, banking, asset management, accounting and civic offices dominate the tenant mix.

Century City

City of Los Angeles (neighborhood, ZIP 90067)

Century City is a neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, not a separate city, and Avison Young puts it on top of the LA office market for rental growth. Talent agencies, entertainment law, private equity and investment banking stack up here. CAA pre-leased 400,000 square feet at Century City Center, 1950 Avenue of the Stars, moving in during 2026, and Clearlake Capital took 150,000 square feet in the same tower; Ares Management relocated its headquarters to 1800 Avenue of the Stars in June 2024 with naming rights on a 12-year lease.

Santa Monica

City of Santa Monica

Santa Monica is its own incorporated city and the core of Silicon Beach. Social and consumer tech, gaming, streaming, ad tech and biotech fill the inventory. Snap Inc. anchors Santa Monica Business Park with its headquarters at 3000 31st Street, Riot Games sits in the 1.2 million square foot Colorado Center at 2500 Broadway alongside a 10-year, 72,000 square foot Roku lease, and 2701 Olympic Boulevard is fully leased to tenants including Activision Blizzard and GoodRx.

Culver City

City of Culver City

Another separate city, and a dense creative ecosystem built out of converted industrial buildings rather than a conventional office district. Roughly 1.34 million square feet is leased to Amazon Studios, HBO and Apple alone, most of it clustered around downtown Culver City. Sony Pictures Studios at 10202 West Washington Boulevard has been on that ground since 1912, Amazon Studios holds the entire 79,369 square feet of creative office at The Culver Steps, and HBO occupies 240,000 square feet at Ivy Station.

Burbank and the Media District

City of Burbank

Burbank is an incorporated city that brokers fold into the Tri-Cities office market with Glendale and Pasadena, and the trade calls it Hollywood North for being a lower-cost option than Hollywood itself. The Media District holds headquarters for several major entertainment companies. The Walt Disney Studios at 500 South Buena Vista Street is the global corporate headquarters of The Walt Disney Company and houses Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, ABC, Disney Channel, Freeform, Marvel Studios and 20th Century Studios; Warner Bros. Studios sits at 4000 Warner Boulevard with the Gehry Partners designed Second Century headquarters beside it.

El Segundo and the South Bay

City of El Segundo

El Segundo brands itself the Aerospace Capital of the World, and the corridor from there down to Long Beach is aerospace and defense with a creative office layer growing on top of it. Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Boeing facilities across the South Bay have traded for tens to hundreds of millions, with developers converting industrial sites into creative office for tech and media tenants. Mattel is headquartered in El Segundo. Badging and escort requirements on the defense side make this the submarket that needs the most lead time.

Pasadena and the Tri-Cities

City of Pasadena

Pasadena is a separate incorporated city and the engineering and asset management end of the Tri-Cities market it shares with Glendale and Burbank. Parsons Corporation, Tetra Tech, Western Asset Management, East West Bank and Singpoli Capital are all headquartered here. Technical services firms tend to want portraits plus real work environments, which means lab and project space gets scouted alongside the conference room.

Playa Vista

City of Los Angeles (neighborhood)

Playa Vista is a 460-acre mixed-use neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles where at least 80% of the commercial space is occupied by technology, entertainment and media companies. Google moved into the historic Spruce Goose Hangar here in October 2018, building a three-floor steel office inside the hangar in a buildout of roughly 525,000 square feet that more than quadrupled its LA footprint. The hangar is where Howard Hughes built the H-4 Hercules, which flew once, on November 2, 1947.

What Los Angeles actually does for a living

Different industries need different things photographed. These are the ones that shape the work here.

Entertainment and studios

The studio map crosses four different jurisdictions. Disney and Warner Bros. are in the City of Burbank, Sony Pictures and Amazon Studios are in the City of Culver City, Paramount is at 5555 Melrose Avenue inside the City of Los Angeles, and the Universal Studios Lot at 100 Universal City Plaza sits mostly in unincorporated Universal City, about two miles north of Hollywood. CAA is in Century City; Activision Blizzard and Riot Games are in Santa Monica.

Executive and creative-team portraits that hold up next to a marketing department's own output, plus lot and production-office environmentals shot under strict access windows.

Aerospace and defense

The aircraft plants south of Los Angeles Airport became the postwar epicenter for ICBM, radar defense and satellite design, and the work never left. SpaceX headquarters occupies the east end of the old Northrop aircraft plant at Hawthorne Airport in the City of Hawthorne. Northrop Grumman's Space Park campus in the City of Redondo Beach was TRW's primary site from the late 1950s and is the design and production campus for major satellite programs including the James Webb Space Telescope, which was assembled there, with a second Space Park site in Manhattan Beach.

Cleared, escorted portrait and facility coverage where the schedule bends around badging, ITAR-sensitive areas and what can legally appear in frame.

Law and finance

Downtown and Century City split this sector between them. Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher is headquartered in Los Angeles, O'Melveny & Myers is at 400 South Hope Street, Munger, Tolles & Olson was founded in Los Angeles in 1962 and sits at California Plaza, and Latham & Watkins runs separate Downtown and Century City offices. Oaktree Capital Management keeps its principal executive office at 333 South Grand Avenue and Houlihan Lokey is at Constellation Place.

Consistent attorney and partner headshots on a repeatable background, shot fast enough to run a whole floor through in a day without wrecking billable hours.

Technology and Silicon Beach

Silicon Beach is the Westside tech corridor, home to more than 500 technology companies including startups, running from Santa Monica through Venice, Marina del Rey and Playa Vista and reaching into El Segundo. Playa Vista alone gives more than 80% of its commercial space to technology, entertainment and media tenants, anchored by Google's office inside the Spruce Goose Hangar.

Team and culture photography that feels like the actual office, plus founder portraits clean enough for a funding announcement and a press kit.

Healthcare and life sciences

Kaiser Permanente is Los Angeles County's largest private employer, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center provided or indirectly contributed to 81,680 jobs in fiscal 2021. Kite Pharma was founded in Santa Monica in 2009 and acquired by Gilead in 2017, and more than 1,000 people now work in Santa Monica across its global headquarters and a clinical research, development and manufacturing center.

Clinician and researcher portraits plus lab and care-setting coverage handled with patient privacy and gowning protocol built into the shot list.

Ports and logistics

The Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, part of the City of Los Angeles, and the Port of Long Beach in the separate City of Long Beach together form the San Pedro Bay port complex, which handles more containers per ship call than any other port complex in the world. The Port of LA has been the No. 1 container port in the Western Hemisphere for 26 consecutive years, from 2000 through 2025, finishing 2025 above 10 million TEUs, while Long Beach recorded the busiest year in its 115-year history at 9.9 million TEUs.

Terminal, yard and vessel-side operations photography timed to daylight and gate hours, with executive portraits made on site instead of pulling leadership off the dock.

Conferences and trade shows

Most large Los Angeles conference work runs through the Los Angeles Convention Center downtown, with Long Beach and Pasadena taking the mid-size and regional programs. The three venues shoot very differently, and knowing which one a client booked changes the gear list before the flight is booked.

Los Angeles Convention Center

1201 South Figueroa Street, adjacent to L.A. LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles. 720,000 square feet of exhibit hall across two buildings, South Hall and West Hall, holding five exhibit halls and 64 meeting rooms, and hosting over 300 events a year. Opened in 1971 to a Charles Luckman design and expanded in 1981, 1993 and 1997.

Los Angeles Convention Center expansion

The City of Los Angeles broke ground October 1, 2025 on a $2.6 billion expansion and modernization. New construction over Pico Boulevard will connect the South and West Exhibit Halls into one contiguous hall of more than 750,000 square feet, adding 190,000 square feet of exhibit space, 39,000 square feet of meeting rooms and 98,000 square feet of multipurpose space. The building stays open throughout, with Olympic Readiness targeted for spring 2028 ahead of the LA28 Games and final completion in spring 2029.

Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center

In the City of Long Beach, with more than 400,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space. A separate city from Los Angeles, and a different drive entirely from Downtown LA.

Pasadena Convention Center

In the City of Pasadena. 130,000 square feet of flexible event space with 25 meeting rooms, a 55,000 square foot Exhibition Hall that divides in two, and an adjacent 25,000 square foot Grand Ballroom that combines with it for up to 80,000 square feet.

Shows that come here

Annual association and industry conferences

The LACC runs over 300 events a year across its five exhibit halls, so exhibit-floor programs, general sessions and breakout tracks often overlap in the same building on the same morning.

Corporate user conferences and summits

Multi-day programs with a keynote, a sponsor floor and evening receptions. These are the ones where a shot list agreed a week out saves the whole schedule.

Regional and mid-size meetings

Programs that outgrow a hotel ballroom but do not need 750,000 square feet tend to land in Pasadena or Long Beach, where a single photographer can realistically cover the full floor.

A conference day is a logistics problem before it is a photography problem. Keynote lighting is set for the stage and for camera, not for a room, so exposure has to be locked before doors open and stay locked when the screens change. Breakouts run in parallel, which means a mapped route between rooms and a realistic count of what one photographer can reach. Sponsors want their booth shot with people in it and their logo readable, and that window is usually the first hour of the floor. Same-day selects matter more here than anywhere else, because the marketing team is posting during the event rather than after it. We schedule a walkthrough the afternoon before whenever load-in allows.

Getting the place right

Angelenos give directions by region and by freeway, and both have rules. Freeway numbers take a definite article here, the 405, the 101, the 5, which almost nowhere else in North America does. The habit is a leftover from the era when LA built freeways as named local routes, the Cahuenga Pass Freeway and the San Bernardino Freeway among them, before California switched to numbers in 1964 and the "the" survived the change. The Westside means the western side of the Los Angeles Basin, south of the Santa Monica Mountains, and it has no official boundary. The Valley, unqualified, means the San Fernando Valley; the Santa Clarita Valley and the San Gabriel Valley go by their own names. Tri-Cities is a brokerage term covering Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena as one office market, and Silicon Beach covers the Westside tech corridor from Santa Monica through Venice, Marina del Rey and Playa Vista into El Segundo. Burbank people will tell you they work in Hollywood North.

We are based in St. Louis and fly to Los Angeles for the work. There is no LA office and no LA phone number, which we would rather say plainly than fudge, because it is the reason the pictures match across every site a company has. Airport choice is part of the planning. LAX, now the fifth busiest airport in the nation, is the right arrival for the Westside, Mid-City, the South Bay and Downtown LA. Hollywood Burbank Airport at 2627 N. Hollywood Way is the practical alternative for the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Hollywood and Downtown; it moved 6,219,479 passengers in 2025 after a record 2024 of more than 6.5 million, and it is a far shorter walk from gate to car. John Wayne Airport primarily serves Orange County, which is a different metro for scheduling purposes.

Los Angeles questions

What teams in this market usually ask first.

You are in St. Louis. How does a Los Angeles shoot actually work?
We fly in the day before, scout the spaces in person that afternoon when building access allows, and shoot on the scheduled day. Travel is quoted up front as part of the project, with no surprise line items afterward. Companies book us this way because the alternative is hiring a different photographer in every market and hoping the results match. They rarely do.
Can you cover more than one Los Angeles office on the same trip?
That is usually the point of the trip. A Century City morning and a Santa Monica afternoon is a normal day. Downtown to El Segundo works if we plan the drive around the peak. We build the multi-site schedule around traffic rather than around a wish list, and we use the same lighting setup at every stop so the final gallery reads as one company instead of four.
How do you handle LA traffic when scheduling?
By treating drive time as a shooting constraint rather than an afterthought. Los Angeles ranked fourth most congested in the US for 2025 at 87 hours lost per driver, and the 405 through the Sepulveda Pass carries about 379,000 vehicles a day. We cluster locations by region, move against the dominant flow where possible, and avoid scheduling a Valley to Westside hop at the exact hours several hundred thousand other people are making it.
Which airport should we plan around for our office?
LAX is the better arrival for the Westside, Mid-City, the South Bay and Downtown. Hollywood Burbank is the better arrival for the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Hollywood and Downtown as well. If the shoot is Tri-Cities or studio work, Burbank saves real time on both ends. John Wayne mainly serves Orange County, so it rarely makes sense for an LA County schedule.
Can we get photo and video from the same visit?
Yes, and doing both on one trip is usually cheaper and faster than separating them. We plan the day so interviews and b-roll share the same lighting setups as the portraits, which cuts setup time and keeps the two deliverables looking like they belong together. Tell us the video deliverables early, because they change how long each location needs.
Another photographer set our current headshot standard. Can you match it?
Send examples before the trip and we will match background tone, crop, lighting direction and retouching level. Matching an existing library is routine work for companies that are adding offices or backfilling new hires. If the existing standard has drifted between locations, we will say so and propose one version to standardize on, but that decision stays yours.
How far ahead should we book?
Four to six weeks is comfortable for a single office. Allow more for multi-site trips, for anything inside a studio lot, and especially for aerospace and defense campuses in the South Bay, where badging and escort approvals take longer than the shoot itself. Tighter timelines are sometimes possible depending on the calendar. Send the dates and we will reply within one business day.
