One Kansas City Place is the tallest building in Kansas City and the tallest habitable building in Missouri, forty two stories and six hundred twenty three feet at 1200 Main Street. It was completed in 1988 to a design by Patty Berkebile Nelson & Immenschuh, and it stands in the Class A core on Main inside the Downtown Loop, within a few blocks of the Power and Light District. The upper floors carry the longest views in the city, west toward the state line and south over the Crossroads, which gives a conference room high in the building a window backdrop that no studio reproduces.
The tenant roster is a matter of public record and has included Kansas City Power & Light, Bank of America, the law firm Bryan Cave and Karbank Real Estate on the thirty ninth floor. That is a banking, legal and real estate mix rather than a single industry tower, and it means a production day in this building can serve two unrelated companies on two floors with one setup in one room.
This is a full Class A downtown tower, so the building comes first and the photography second. Names go to the security desk in advance, the freight elevator is booked through building management or your office manager, and the dock has hours. We send the equipment list and the arrival window the week before, and the kit is built to move up in one trip. Once on the floor a conference room of roughly eight by ten feet with a power outlet is all the space a session needs.

Security and access
Send names and arrival times to the security desk in advance. Downtown towers want the list before the day, and a crew that turns up unannounced waits in the lobby.
Freight and loading
The freight elevator and the dock are booked through building management or your office manager. We send the equipment list the week before and the full setup moves up in one trip on a cart.
The room
A conference room of roughly eight by ten feet with a power outlet. Interior rooms work, but a room on the outside wall of a forty two story tower is worth asking for.
The view as backdrop
High floors here give a genuine skyline backdrop. It suits executive portraits more than a full staff program, where consistency across everyone matters more than the window.
Schedule
A typical day covers forty to sixty people without rushing anyone. Two tenants on two floors can share a production day, since the setup stays in one room and people come to it.
